Ulrike Folkerts has appeared in front of the camera in more than 100 productions since 1987. When it comes to love, the actress has relied on only one person for 22 years.

Unfortunately, those who admit their sexual orientation often struggle not only with themselves, but also with uncertainty about how the environment and society will deal with this. In the case of the actress Ulrike Folkerts, who was expelled without request by the newspaper “Bild” in 1999 as part of a gay and lesbian song contest (Folkerts was a judge at the time and the tabloids “drawn conclusions” from the contest), the period after was not easy.

“It was like being thrown into a wave,” she told “Bunte” magazine in 2019. 26 years after her accidental disappearance, Ulrike Folkerts stands confidently in life and shares her thoughts and love with a partner who is also in the public eye. Her name: Katharina Schnitzler.

This successful photographer and illustrator has been active as an artist since the early 1990s. On his own website, the Düsseldorf native describes himself as “a researcher in between.” The 62-year-old describes what you can imagine as follows: “I want my images to be multi-layered, the viewer does not see them empty, but rather his subjective perception changes the image again and again. The multifaceted nature of things includes moments where anything seems possible.”

Ulrike Folkerts and Katharina Schnitzler met in 2003. In the talk show “3 nach 9”, the actress once described their meeting as “positive fate”. Successful photographer and detective “Tatort”, who returns to investigate as Lena Odenthal in Erste tonight at 20:15, seem to make a good team in many situations. In 2008, the couple even published a book together entitled “Happiness Found”.

In an interview at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Katharina Schnitzler described herself as a “curious observer of life”. With the help of his photographs, he finds “special access” to people and “everyday things,” the artist says. Since the beginning of her artistic journey, Katharina Schnitzler has been able to express herself emotionally and mentally in countless exhibitions. He has successfully exhibited his work and drawings in many venues over the years, most recently at the Erlangen Art Association under the banner of the exhibition “Behold the Birds”.
