“This is not the time to express oneself”: in Marseille, Mehdi Kessaci was buried in privacy but under strict supervision

The younger brother of anti-drug trafficking activist Amine Kessaci, Mehdi Kessaci was buried this Tuesday afternoon in family privacy in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). Burial in the small cemetery of Saint-Henri (16th arrondissement) whose surroundings are monitored by many police officers. Funeral services began shortly before 3 p.m. at the mosque in Frais-Vallon, a large town in the 13th arrondissement where the Kessaci family originates. A flower carpet had also been placed by unnamed people at the Claudie-d’Arcy roundabout where the fatal shooting occurred.

Tributes continued in the evening in the 13th arrondissement, at the headquarters of the Conscience association, founded by Amine Kessaci after the death of his older brother, found charred in the trunk of a car in 2020.
