Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, will step down in 2026, according to the Financial Times

According to Financial Times Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, will step down from his post in 2026, after more than fourteen years. The British newspaper writes that several people within the company have confirmed that preparations for Cook’s succession have intensified in recent times: the most likely successor at the moment is John Ternus, vice president of Apple’s hardware engineering division.

Cook is 65 and has led the company since 2011, when he served as co-director with Steve Jobs, who died that year. At that time Apple was worth 350 billion dollars, now it is worth four trillion. For Financial Times It is unlikely that a new CEO will be appointed before the end of January, but the Apple people involved (who were not named) believe that a decision is likely to be made in the first few months of the year. However, they specified that the timing could change.
