France’s big bosses are paid slightly less in 2024 than in 2023. At least this is what emerges from the annual ranking of Proxinvest, a shareholder advisory firm. The total remuneration of group managers listed on the CAC 40 on the Paris Stock Exchange fell by an average of 9%, reaching 6.5 million euros during the year, ce which represents 82 times the average salary of its employees. Youan average that clearly hides the gap.

There are five of them who stand out in the CAC 40: the only managers whose salaries exceeded the symbolic limit of 10 million euros last year, including fixed salaries, bonuses or even free shares.

Pamong them, only one is over 20 million, 23.1 million to be precise, Francesco Millieri, CEO of Essilor Luxottica, a French-Italian eyewear manufacturer. In the ranking, he beats Cyrille Bolloré from the group of the same name, Pascal Daloz from Dassault Systèmes, Patrick Pouyanné from TotalEnergies and Gilles Gobin from Rubis, one of the main producers of solar energy.

Therefore, they all exceed what Proxinvest considers to be the maximum limit of socially acceptable remuneration. And if the average remuneration of CAC 40 bosses fell last year, it increased more than that of their employees between 2014 and 2024: on average by 58% compared with 42%.
