Trial: Trial for stabbed teenager begins

Nine months after the fatal knife attack at the side entrance of the Schlosspark Center in Schwerin city center, the trial of the alleged perpetrator began today (15:30). Milad R., 25, was charged with manslaughter. The victim was a 17-year-old compatriot from Afghanistan.

According to the investigation, the young man’s violent death was preceded by an altercation with a third Afghan at the Schlosspark Center. The alleged perpetrator asked the boy to leave the shopping center together. As soon as they went through the side door, Milad R. is said to have stabbed the 17-year-old.

The knife blade is said to be 13 centimeters long. The boy reportedly suffered six stab wounds and two cuts. A stab in the chest is said to be fatal.

The suspect fled through several countries

The suspected perpetrator fled. According to the investigation, his escape took him through Hamburg and Cologne to Paris and to Great Britain. He was arrested there in April 2025 on a European arrest warrant and extradited to Germany in May.

A twelve-day trial is scheduled for trial at the Schwerin regional court until the end of January.
