That The UN Security Council has approved Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gazawhich in particular includes the deployment of international troops. Thirteen Council members voted in favor of the text, which US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz called “historic and constructive.” Russia and China abstained.

The US resolution, which was amended several times during the negotiations, approved the American president’s plan leading to the implementation of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Palestinian territories on October 10.

What is Trump’s plan for Gaza?

Trump’s draft plan so far allows for a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which took effect on October 10 in the Palestinian territories. In particular, the final section of the draft authorized the creation of the International Stabilization Force (ISF). These forces will operate in coordination with Israel, Egypt and newly trained Palestinian police, with the aim of ensuring the security of the border region and continuing the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip.

The ISF will also address the “permanent disarmament of non-state armed groups”, the protection of civilians and the securing of humanitarian corridors.

The United States and several Arab and Muslim-majority countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, have called on the UN Security Council in recent days to immediately adopt the resolution.
