ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Russia’s war in Ukraine poses a real threat to the European Union. Ending the war in Ukraine in a just and sustainable way is the first step towards ending the conflict. It is the first step on the long journey to reestablish international balance and make it beneficial for all countries.” So Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said in a video message sent to the CISL National Assembly. “The problem is that every time you try to bring Russia to the negotiating table, Russia will stop first. How can you have dialogue when one side refuses to talk? That’s why Europe has to speak in a language that Russia understands. That’s why we do what we do to support Ukraine politically, financially and militarily,” he explained. “The European community is facing an unprecedented threat, combined attacks, attacks and deliberate attempts to destabilize our democracies. We cannot let this be the start of something worse. If we are not prepared, we will risk every euro we spend on our schools, hospitals and cultural sectors,” Kallas added.
“In fact, if you start investing in defense when you really need it, it is too late and it is too late today. If we want peace, we must prepare for war,” he concluded.
