The more than 100 firefighters on scene were making slow progress in their fight against the fire, the Los Angeles Times explained. Drones are also being used to obtain thermal images of the blaze and assist firefighters. “The ship does not appear to have sunk even though large amounts of water were used to extinguish the fire,” our colleagues wrote.
The US Coast Guard has set a security perimeter around the ship, which could disrupt activity at the port of Los Angeles, one of the largest ports in the United States.
The ship is 336 m long, that is One Henry Hudson, was at the port of Tokyo, Japan, in early November, before arriving on November 19 at the port of Los Angeles. The cargo ship was operated by One Ocean Express, a company headquartered in Singapore, the Associated Press news agency reported.
