Butter, milk and cream will be available cheaper from Monday. Discount stores and supermarkets are reducing prices by up to 25 percent.

Dairy products are becoming cheaper in retail stores. The big discounters have begun their fourth round of price cuts since the start of September. The selling prices of butter, cream and milk will be reduced on Monday, as Lidl, Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd and Norma announced on Sunday.

Prices are down 7 to 25 percent, depending on the product. 250 grams of the cheapest branded butter at Aldi and Lidl now costs 1.29 euros, up from 1.39 euros previously. Fresh milk with a fat content of 3.5 percent is offered for 0.95 euros; previously you had to pay 1.09 euros. For sweetened condensed milk, the price difference between suppliers will be smaller.

Based on demand, supermarket chain Edeka, its subsidiary Netto as well as Rewe, Penny and Kaufland announced that they would reduce the prices of similar items by the same level. The price decrease was partly due to higher milk production compared to the previous year. Butter prices often fluctuate significantly. In October 2024 it reached a high of 2.39 euros.
