The government of Uruapan, in Michoacán, announced on Wednesday the cancellation of the November 20 parade due to the insecurity experienced in the territory, as specified in a statement from the municipal authority. The decision comes just two weeks after the shooting of the then mayor, Carlos Manzo, a case that still shocks the country. The municipal council signs that the annulment is also carried out as an act in memory of Manzo.
The country celebrates every November 20th the commemoration and remembrance of the Mexican Revolution, which began on the same day in 1910. “This decision is taken with profound respect and responsibility, giving priority to the safety and tranquility of all Uarapense families”, reads the writing.
