US and Ukrainian negotiators hailed ‘good progress’ in Swiss talks

Kyiv’s allies are bracing for the possible release of US intelligence from Ukraine

Donald Trump, as in March, once again threatened to stop military intelligence sharing with Kiev and arms shipments if Ukraine does not agree to his 28-point project.

According to PoliticalUkraine’s allies are seeking to determine the true scope of these threats, with the United States the primary provider of intelligence capabilities to Ukraine.

James Appathurai, acting director of NATO’s DIANA defense innovation program, recalled that the United States has the capability “unique”even within the Alliance. However, he stressed that commercial solutions, which did not exist a few years ago, could be a partial alternative.

He especially cited the Finnish company ICEYE, which specializes in radar observations from space, which has sold satellites to Poland, the Netherlands, Finland and Portugal, and provided certain data to Ukraine.

The European Commissioner for Defense and Space, Andrius Kubilius, recalled that the European Union has several efficient satellite systems, including Galileo and Copernicus, but acknowledged delays in certain services, especially those equivalent to Starlink. Europe’s IRIS² program, designed as an alternative, will not become operational until 2030.

Despite this uncertainty, Kubilius said he was confident in Europe’s ability to support Kyiv: “Ukraine, if it decides to continue, will continue. »

James Bezan, a member of Canada’s House of Commons, thinks his country can help fill certain gaps. He indicated that Ottawa had shared RADARSAT-2 images with Ukraine “which allows him to see what is happening on the border and beyond”.
