After years on the run, French police arrested a fugitive child molester from the US.
Michael Wiseman, 51, is said to have abused his own adopted son. He already has a criminal record in his home country. This is not the first time he has escaped justice.
The man had been on the run for years
The arrests occurred on November 1 in a small town north of Strasbourg. According to authorities on Friday, French investigators accused the man of molesting his 10-year-old adopted child. They are also investigating whether he molested other children.

According to police in the US state of Arizona, officials arrested Wiseman in 2008 for child abuse. Despite wearing an electronic ankle bracelet, he managed to escape the US that same year. A year later, investigators arrested him in Spain and extradited him to the US, where a court convicted him in 2012.
