This Sunday, Chileans decided that left-wing candidate Jeannette Jara and far-right Republican José Antonio Kast will compete in a second round of elections to decide Chile’s new president on December 14. The director of the consultancy firm Feedback and public opinion specialist, Juan Pardo, analyzes the new electoral scenario for the winners in this video.
Pardo also refers to the surprise of the day, the right-wing populist candidate Franco Parisi, who came third (19.63%) of the eight candidates who aspired to reach La Moneda. A big unknown is where this large pool of votes will end up, whether in Jara or Kast. When questioned about this, Parisi sent a message to the winners: “Earn your votes. The People’s Party doesn’t need favors.”
