Villepin, Glucksmann, Faure, Tondelier… Political leaders take part in the white march in memory of Mehdi Kessaci

During white demonstrations against drug trafficking, the left would put aside its divisions. In fact, many national figures are preparing to parade together on Saturday, in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), within the framework of the white march organized in memory of Medhi Kessaci, shot and killed by a motorbike commando, on November 13, in the 4th arrondissement of the city of Marseille. For the authorities, a “favorite trail” would be a warning of crime.

This 20 year old teenager is the brother of an environmental activist at the forefront of the eradication of drugs, Amine Kessaci. The president of the Conscience collective, which aims to help families of drug victims, on Wednesday called for “the uprising against drug trafficking to be long-lasting”, and hoped “thousands” of people would participate in white marches to say “stop”.

Marseille’s leftist mayor, Benoît Payan, called for a demonstration of “all those who refuse to bow their heads (…) against drug trafficking. This must be a moment of unity for those who believe in the rule of law. Those who want to rule in fear have no place in this country.”

And added: “I see scared political leaders or associations, who did not want to be named. Even if the city has seen a sharp decline in the number of murders related to drug trafficking, Mehdi’s death tells us something else: the narco octopus kills to silence and scare. »

The Ecologists will be present in large numbers: number one in the party, Marine Tondelier, number two, Aissa Ghalmi, as well as Marie Toussaint. The MEP is present in Marseille this Thursday to organize a demonstration with Amine Kessaci, whom he knows well – he is the Green Party candidate in the European elections and the legislative elections (as part of the New Popular Front).

“The entire Parliament must be there: 577 elected officials”

Manuel Bompard, coordinator of France Insoumise and representative of Bouches-du-Rhône, has announced that he will be among the demonstrators. “The violence of the drug trade will never let the Republic back down. France is next to Marseille,” also wrote PCF boss Fabien Roussel on the X network. He will also attend.

On the PS side, the first secretary, Olivier Faure, will make the trip – he has therefore canceled his participation in the Socialist event on Saturday in Lyon and will not be present at the Assembly for the budget debate if it goes ahead on Saturday: “This is important,” he explained to our newspaper. Drug dealers must have the feeling that there is no gap. Ideally, all members of Parliament should be there: 577 elected officials wearing sashes. »

Raphaël Glucksmann and MP François Ruffin will also attend. According to our information, former Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin will participate in the white march.

At the same time, selected environmentalists tried to convince the Paris city hall to organize a parade on the same day in the capital, to express the solidarity of the residents of Ile-de-France. Anne Hidalgo has not yet responded.
