Violent fan protests in England: thousands march in front of stadiums | sport

Fan anger at West Ham!

Thousands of fans of relegation-threatened West Ham United protested strongly against the club’s management before the home match against Burnley (3-2) in London – and carried coffins in the streets.

The symbolic casket was inscribed with the words “Sold our souls” and “No more BS.” “BS” also stands for club owner David Sullivan and deputy boss Karren Brady.

A clear desire to separate.

Fans have been in a frenzy since the controversial move from beloved Upton Park, where the Hammers played for 112 years, to the modern London Stadium in 2016. “You have sold our club,” shouted many walking through Stratford. The atmosphere heated up.

Some carried banners reading: “This couple is killing our club – just step back!” (“This duo destroyed our club – finally resigned!”). Others recalled “15 years of devastation.”

Protests continue.

The action in yesterday’s match was nothing new. Fans have railed against the club’s management in the last three league games. While many supporters boycotted the match completely and stayed home, other Hammers supporters also sang loudly against the club leadership at the stadium.

The sporting crisis experienced by West Ham makes management even more difficult.

After disappointing 14th place last season, West Ham with DFB star Niclas Füllkrug (32) have only been able to win three of eleven games this season. They are currently in the relegation zone (18th out of 20). In September, coach Graham Potter was sacked and replaced by Nuno Espírito Santo.

However: Yesterday the Hammers celebrated a 3-2 win against Burnley. This is the second win in a row after last week’s success against Newcastle.
