The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts a lot of rain and snow in the highlands at the start of the week. Weather experts even predict continuous rain in several areas from Sunday evening to Monday evening. Within 24 hours it is expected to rain up to 35 liters per square meter in some areas – especially in the southern part of the Black Forest and from Lake Constance to the Allgäu below 800 metres.
10 to 20 centimeters of fresh snow in the Upper Black Forest
Monday starts off very cloudy. Rain is expected at times, and sleet and snow in high areas of the Black Forest and Alb. DWD predicted highs of one degree on the Danube and 9 degrees south of the Upper Rhine. There’s a storm in Feldberg. There could be ten to 20 centimeters of fresh snow in the Black Forest on Monday and Tuesday evening, DWD meteorologists said. In the mountains there is snow and slippery conditions at night.
Snowfall levels fell to 600 meters
Skies are also expected to remain cloudy on Tuesday. Therefore, the snowfall limit drops to around 600 meters. The weather service predicted rain and sleet as well as snow in the mountains. The temperature is between one and seven degrees.
According to DWD, the weather will remain very cloudy on Wednesday. Light rainfall is common – mixed with snow at mid-altitudes and snow in the mountains. Temperatures range from zero degrees in the mountains to six degrees in Breisgau. On Thursday, the weather will become looser as the day progresses.
