This deadline was expected by many tourists, the figures confirm this. SNCF recorded a 13% increase in the number of train ticket sales compared to last year’s winter sales opening, at midday, Le Parisien showed.
Thousands of train tickets were sold for travel between January 8 and March 29 2026, and until July 3 for certain TGVs traveling in the southeast of the country. Ticket sales opened this Wednesday morning.
At midday, the most popular “mountain” destinations are: Bourg-Saint-Maurice (Savoie), Moutiers (Savoie), Grenoble (Isère), Briançon (Hautes-Alpes) and Aime-la-Plagne (Savoie). However, SNCF noted that other destinations also increased sharply compared to last year: Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) and Nantes (Loire-Atlantique).
SNCF does not indicate how many tickets have been sold, only communicating progress.
The line is open until July 3
Ahead of the opening of sales, SNCF has promised to strengthen its offer between January 8 and March 29: 850 TGV Inoui will serve the mountain over five school holiday weekends, according to the rail company. Or “departures every 15 minutes from Paris Gare de Lyon, on Saturdays from zone C”, SNCF said in a press release.
In addition to these winter holidays, it is possible to book tickets until July 3 on the Southeastern line, to around thirty destinations including Annecy (Haute-Savoie), Dijon (Côte d’Or), Grenoble (Isère), Lyon (Rhône), Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) or Montpellier (Hérault).
