“Without Italian, Switzerland would not exist” – Il Tempo

Rome, November 18 – (Adnkronos) – “Switzerland without Italy, without the Italian language, would not be Switzerland. There would be constant clashes between Germans, German speakers and French speakers. These three official languages: German, French and Italian define the country of which I am a member of the government. If this definition did not exist, this country, as we know it today, would not exist”. This was stated by the Swiss Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ignazio Cassis, in a press conference on the sidelines of the first conference on Italophony at Villa Madama.
