“Did he say I was a fascist? That’s fine.” Donald Trump meets with the new mayor of New York. Zohran Mamdaniand archives the clashes of recent months. The President of the United States, in the Oval Office, helps the mayor answer uncomfortable questions. The press reminded Mamdani of the words used to define Trump in the past. “Are you saying that you think President Trump is a fascist?” he asked the mayor. “I’m talking about…”, Mamdani tried to answer, but was interrupted by Trump. “It’s okay, just say ‘yes’. It’s easier than giving an explanation, I don’t care,” said the President with a smile.
Before the election in New York, Trump defined Mamdani as a ‘communist’: “He has a rather particular vision, let’s see if it works.”. He will change, we all change. I have changed a lot since I took office in my first term. Some of my positions have changed… I am very confident, I am sure that “Mamdani” will surprise many conservatives.”
Q: Would you confirm that you think President Trump is a fascist?
MAMDANI: I’ve talked about–
Trump: That’s OK. You can say yes. I do not mind. pic.twitter.com/uWZFRcmGxB

The mayor of New York has also called Trump “a despot” in the past. “They told me worse thingsit’s not very offensive. Maybe, I think he will change his mind when we start working together,” the president said. “I want to help him, not hurt him. I want to give him a lot of help, because I want New York City to be a great city. I think this mayor can do great things. We agreed on more than I thought… I want him to do his job well and we will help him do that,” he added.
“What I really appreciate about this president is that our meetings did not focus on points of disagreement” but rather on the shared goal of serving New Yorkers, Mamdani said, underscoring a commitment to alleviating what he called a “cost of living crisis.”
